The Beaumont is one of most wonderful luxury hotels in London. Located in the city's most affluent district - Mayfair - The Beaumont opened in September 2014 and features 72 rooms & 29 suites.
Embodying the elegance of Art Deco and the golden age of transatlantic travel, The Beaumont is a quintessential retreat of refined luxury. Privately owned and independently operated, the hotel has gained a reputation for exemplary service and sophistication, blending classic British hospitality with a distinctly modern flair.
Following a meticulous refurbishment in 2021, The Beaumont now features an additional bedroom wing, two private dining rooms, and subtle yet impactful updates to colours, textures, and furnishings. These were all designed by the late, great French interiors maestro Thierry Despont. Accommodation highlights include the extraordinary ROOM by Antony Gormley - the award-winning artist - and The Roosevelt Suite, which can expand to a five-bedroom private wing.
The hotel features the Colony Grill Room - open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the delightful Gatsby's Room - for all-day dining and the impressive La Magritte Bar & Terrace - which celebrates all things American - as seen in 1920s Paris or London. The cigar humidor in the Lobby is one of the best in town.
For those needing a daily workout, there's the Resident's Gymnasium, plus steam room, sauna, dry heat, men's grooming, therapies - massages & more, and hair & beauty treatments.
The Beaumont is very much like London's The Connaught and The Stafford - it offers the best of the best, to the best of the best.
Set serenely along a garden square in Mayfair, The Beaumont is ideally positioned to offer both peace and proximity to London’s highlights. Just steps from the hotel, the luxury boutiques of Bond Street, Mount Street, and Duke Street await, while nearby green spaces—Grosvenor Square, Berkeley Square, and Hyde Park—provide ample spots for a morning stroll or afternoon retreat. Art lovers and theatre-goers will appreciate the easy access to Mayfair’s renowned galleries and the West End’s vibrant theatre scene, all within a short walk.
For Guests arriving by train, Bond Street Underground Station is conveniently located - just a five-minute walk away, connecting them with the entirety of London. Heathrow Airport is a 35-55 minute drive, while London City Airport and Gatwick Airport can be reached in 30-45 minutes and under an hour and a half, respectively. Paddington Station for the Heathrow Express, Victoria Station for the Gatwick Express, and St Pancras International are all within a quick journey, making The Beaumont an ideal choice for international travellers.
From Brown Hart Gardens - and if you crane your head just right - you can see the magnificent Selfridge's on Oxford Street. Close to the hotel is the lovely Ukrainian Catholic Church (Duke Street). The Gardens are quite the thing - 1,000 square metres of public space above an electricity substation.
There is something rather lovely about waking up early at The Beaumont - grabbing a takeaway coffee at Reception - and wandering the streets around the hotel with only cats and pigeons to say “good morning” to … it's London at its finest!
The Beaumont’s accommodations exude Art Deco charm, blending plush comfort with a classic yet modern design.
Each room was carefully reimagined by Thierry Despont, showcasing high-gloss wood finishes, soft colours, and curated art. I had the pleasure of staying in Guestroom 506 - Mayfair Suite, and it became my personal sanctuary—a remarkable balance of opulent decor and homey warmth.
At a spacious 60 square metres, it is designed with a light-filled sitting room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and beautiful Art Deco furnishings. The walls, adorned with original artworks and vintage prints, exude sophistication. I found myself drawn to the luxury of the high-thread-count linens on the king-sized bed, complemented by a plush down duvet and a selection of pillows - offering the perfect blend of support and softness. A statement chandelier hangs elegantly above the room, casting a gentle glow over the bespoke furnishings, all upholstered in rich fabrics inspired by the golden age of the 1920s.
The marble bathroom is nothing short of an experience, with underfloor heating, twin sinks, and a spacious rain shower that envelops you in a cloud of warm mist. The bathtub, deep enough to sink into after a day exploring Mayfair, is paired with luxury bath amenities that indulge the senses. The fine details—a heated mirror, fluffy bathrobes, and even a makeup mirror lit to perfection—exude a level of care that truly sets The Beaumont apart. The amenities are by D.R. Harris - exclusively for The Beaumont. The scent is delicious!
Suite 506 enjoys views over Brown Hart Gardens.
The living room is dominated by paintings of Sir Winston Churchill, readable books - fiction and non - and a wet bar.
The minibar is simply awesome! Its contents are complimentary and refilled every day. Fizzy drinks, tea, coffee, fresh milk, water, sweets, crisps, mints, biscuits and Champagne (chargeable). Excellent!
Other accommodation options cater to various tastes, from the charming Classic and Superior rooms with courtyard views to the Premier rooms with baths, rain showers, and views of Brown Hart Gardens. The superior rooms and studios are perfect for those seeking additional space and privacy, featuring large seating areas and private hallways.
The ROOM by Antony Gormley is a showstopper - unlike anything else in London. Conceived by the renowned artist Antony Gormley, this suite’s bedroom is encased in a geometric sculpture, accessible by a staircase from the suite’s sitting room and marble bathroom. The experience is surreal and immersive, as the guest steps inside a sculptural cocoon—a meditation in spatial harmony. With dark wood panelling and minimalist decor, ROOM creates a haven for introspection, a place to disconnect and reflect, with subtle lighting that enhances its calming atmosphere.
For the ultimate experience in Beaumont luxury, The Roosevelt Suite spans an entire private wing on the fifth floor. Inspired by the luxury liners of the roaring 20s & 30s, this suite offers a blend of elegance and exclusivity, with a light-filled living room, a real fireplace, and a terrace overlooking Mayfair’s rooftops. Decorated with Art Deco furniture, bronze accents, and a hand-curated collection of art, this suite embodies the Beaumont's dedication to sophistication and cultural appreciation. The dining room seats eight, perfect for entertaining, while the master bedroom boasts opulent details, from lush textiles to period-inspired decor.
From the moment of arrival, The Beaumont envelops guests in a level of personalised care that feels genuinely tailored. Available around the clock, the Concierge and Reception teams stand ready to arrange exclusive reservations, plan bespoke itineraries, or simply attend to any request with aplomb. The hotel also offers valet parking, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a 24-hour house car service, which is an emissions-free transport option perfect for short excursions around Mayfair.
A highlight of the hotel is The Beaumont Spa—an Art Deco sanctuary of relaxation. Its white marble interiors hark back to the sophistication of the 1920s, setting a tranquil stage for rejuvenating treatments. The menu is extensive, featuring therapeutic massages, bespoke facials, and the indulgent hammam experience. The adjacent facilities—including a steam room, sauna, and ice bar—complete the wellness experience, and for fitness enthusiasts, the 24-hour gym offers state-of-the-art equipment to cater to all workout preferences.
While I mention the 1920s a great deal, The Beaumont is very much a 21st century property - filled with sophisticated tech. While you expect a Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald or indeed Gatsby to be sitting at the Bar, it is an ideal home to a Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.
The Beaumont’s Art Deco design transports Guests to a bygone era, brought to life through high-gloss wood finishes, mirrored surfaces, and custom-made furniture. The recent refurbishment, led by the late Thierry Despont, has seamlessly integrated refined modern touches that maintain the hotel’s character while elevating each space with sophistication. The lobby features cherrywood panelling, plush fabric seating, and Pierre Frey curtains in gold-on-ivory, creating an atmosphere akin to a private club.
The Beaumont’s curated art collection, sourced by London’s Zuleika Gallery, reflects Mayfair’s cultural heritage. Original prints, paintings, and sculptures by 20th-century and contemporary artists such as Alexander Calder, Robert Motherwell, and Henri Matisse add layers of richness throughout. In every detail, from the furnishings to the carefully selected artwork, The Beaumont exudes glamour and refinement, offering an immersive experience that feels both historical and warmly inviting.
The building itself was opened in 1926 as a 4-storey parking facility/petrol station - Macy's Garage - and it shared the same designer/architect as Fortnum & Mason. It was home to Dagenham Motors Ltd and then Avis Rent-A-Car.
In 2014, it opened as The Beaumont - the brainchild of Chris Corbin & Jeremy King - restaurateur royalty of The Ivy and Caprice fame. King came up with the idea of James “Jimmy” Beaumont who opened an American-style hotel in London after escaping from New York in the 1920s. Pure fiction but the hotel will forever be called The Beaumont … a story that Fitzgerald himself would be proud of!
Dining at The Beaumont is an experience in itself, with each venue crafted to capture Art Deco glamour while offering a distinct culinary perspective.

Worth a mention - the bespoke humidor - created by DeArt, the Italian furniture maker, that sits in front of La Magritte Bar. The sticks are well-cared for … and the highlight smoke is a Cohiba 55 Aniversario. Expensive but simply magnificent.
